Mutares SE & Co. KGaA, Munich (www.mutares.com), as a listed private equity holding company, acquires medium-sized companies in special situations, based in China, which show significant operational improvement potential and are sold again after undergoing a repositioning and stabilization process. Mutares actively support its portfolio companies with its own investment and consulting teams and through strategic add-on acquisitions. The focus is on companies with revenues of EUR 100 million to EUR 750 million from the following segments: Automotive & Mobility, Engineering & Technology, Goods & Services and Retail & Food. Within our OPS team, we are looking to hire a leader who has a successful track record in Commercial Excellence, Lean Management with a continuous improvement attitude and an entrepreneurial mindset. This role will be located at portfolio companies, on site across China.

Your Tasks

In this role, you will support Mutares’ invested portfolio companies. Your responsibility is to assist with the overall transformation strategy, identifying business improvement opportunities, and implementing and tracking those initiatives together with the local management team to improve the business performance.

    • Business analysis: Conducting bottom-up, detailed analysis for underlying business to provide full transparency for the risks and opportunities right after the acquisition and identifying areas of improvement
    • Initiative implementation: Collaborate with the local team to achieve targeted improvements, ensure transparency through tracking and reporting, provide risk analysis and mitigation for deviations, and foster a continuous improvement culture within the portfolio company
    • Strategic setup: Conducting an overarching strategy analysis for the portfolio company within the Mutares portfolio to seek for potential synergies
    • Operational DD: Supporting the M&A team in due diligence and identifying improvement potentials to structure the deal case

Your Profile

  • At least 5-7 years of international experience in a Commercial Excellence role in industry or consulting, with 2 years of experience in consulting being a prerequisite
  • Master studies in the field of economics, finance, engineering, marketing or similar with outstanding results
  • Structured, pragmatic and hands-on approach to solve problems and drive impact combined with an entrepreneurial and team mindset
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams in complex situations with strong commitment and motivation
  • Willingness to travel 4 days per week within China (typ. Mo-Thu) and fluency in English and Mandarin (written and spoken), and another Language is a plus
